My phone isn’t ringing; calls are going straight to voicemail
Getting voicemails without your phone ever ringing? If callers say they’re being sent straight to voicemail, there are a couple of common causes. Here’s how to troubleshoot and get your phone ringing again.
Symptoms
- Incoming calls go straight to voicemail
- Callers say they tried to reach you but were sent to voicemail without your phone ringing
Common causes and fixes
1. Do Not Disturb (DND) is enabled
This is the most likely culprit.
What to do:
- Look at your phone display. If you see “Do Not Disturb” or [DND], this feature is active.
- To turn it off:
On a Polycom phone:
- Press the physical Do Not Disturb button (if available), or
- Use the softkey under the display labeled DND.
On a Yealink phone:
- Look for [DND] in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Use the DND softkey beneath the display to turn it off.
2. Phone says "No Service"
This means your phone isn’t connected to our network.
Steps to fix it:
- Check if the phone has a valid IP address:
- Press the Menu or Settings button.
- Navigate to Status > Network > look for the IPv4 address.
- On cordless phones, press OK or Info on the handset > select Status or Base to view the IP address.
- No IP address?
- Check your internet connection and make sure all cables are securely connected.
- Have an IP address but still no service?
- Reboot the phone:
- Unplug the Ethernet cable (or power adapter, if separate).
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and let it reconnect.
- Reboot the phone:
