Laguna Woods Village is getting a big internet upgrade and you're part of it.
We’re working with the Laguna Woods Village HOA to bring you Ting Internet. This guide has everything you need to know to get started.
Why is this happening?
The current cable and TV setup is aging and hard to maintain. That’s why your GRF Board and corporate members approved a better, modern solution: fiber internet from Ting and streaming TV with DirecTV Stream.
What’s included?
Ting Internet be included in your HOA fees starting in January 2027.
Service: Ting Internet
Details: Up to 2,000 Mbps upload and download
Included Cost: $40/month
Service: DirecTV Stream
Details: Local channels, DVR, HBO Max, Paramount+ with Showtime
Included Cost: $25/month
Total (included in HOA fee): $65/month – all in, no extra bills
What equipment do I get?
You’ll get everything you need for free–and you don’t need to return it if you move. It stays in the home and works like a utility.
- 1 Eero 7 mesh router
- 1 Ting modem
Most homes will get 1 Eero. If your home is 1,500 sq. ft. or larger, we’ll install a second one to make sure Wi-Fi reaches every room.
How installation works
Outside: Pre-wiring
We’ll run fiber to your building first. You don’t need to be home, but please keep your gate unlocked on your scheduled appointment day. Once we're done, we'll add molding to safely cover wires.
Inside: Home setup
- A Ting tech will install your modem and router.
- We’ll connect up to two devices (like your TV and computer) as a courtesy.
- You can connect other devices yourself using your new Wi-Fi.
- Minimal wall work is needed.
What about my current internet?
You can keep your West Coast Internet (WCI) service until your HOA lets you know it’s time to cancel. There will be a short overlap with Ting to ensure a smooth switch but you won’t be double-billed.
When will I get Ting?
Service rolls out and gets activated by zone as soon as we finish construction. Once your area is ready:
- We’ll call and email you to schedule installation.
- After installation, your new Ting Internet will work right away.
The full switch to Ting and DirecTV Stream will be complete by December 2026.
DirecTV Stream
This is not your old cable box. It’s better.
DirecTV will be available starting August 2026. Here's what you should know:
- DirecTV is supplied through the Laguna Woods HOA.
- You’ll get two Gemini Stream boxes.
- Watch on your TV, tablet, or smartphone.
- Includes local channels, HBO Max, and Paramount+ with Showtime.
- 20 hours of cloud DVR to record your favorite shows.
- Village TV is still available through its app or YouTube.
- Keep watching Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu—whatever you like.
- In January 2027, DirecTV will be included in your HOA fees.
