Check your Android phone's compatibility
Wi-Fi calling is supported on many Android devices. Follow these steps to check if your phone supports Wi-Fi calling:
- Connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections or Wireless and Network Settings.
- Tap More or More Networks.
- Look for a Wi-Fi calling option.
If you see it, your phone is Wi-Fi calling ready!
Enable Wi-Fi calling on your Ting account
Before you can activate Wi-Fi calling on your phone, it needs to be enabled on your Ting number. Contact us to enable the feature and set up your E911 address.
Setting up Wi-Fi calling on your Android phone
Once Wi-Fi calling is enabled on your Ting account, follow these steps to turn it on in your phone settings:
- Connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections or Wireless and Network Settings.
- Tap More or More Networks.
- Turn on Wi-Fi calling.
Your phone is now ready to make calls over Wi-Fi!
Choose your Wi-Fi calling preferences
Customize your calling experience by setting your Wi-Fi calling preferences:
- Open Wi-Fi calling (not the on/off toggle).
- Tap Connection preferences.
- Choose one of the following:
- Wi-Fi preferred: Your phone uses Wi-Fi for calls when available.
- Cellular network preferred: Your phone uses Wi-Fi for calls only when the cellular network is unavailable.
- Never use a cellular network: Your phone will use Wi-Fi exclusively for calls.
