Two-factor authentication (2FA) for Ting Mobile
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Ting account by requiring two pieces of information to log in:
- Your password.
- A unique authentication token generated by an authenticator app or sent via text message.
Even if someone gains access to your username and password, they can’t log in without your 2FA code. This extra step ensures your account remains secure, protecting important connections like banking and social media.
Setting up Two-Factor Authentication
When you sign in to your Ting Mobile account, you’ll need to set up 2FA if you haven’t done so already.
- Sign in to your Ting Mobile account.
- If 2FA isn’t set up, a pop-up window will appear.
- Enter your Ting account password and click Continue.
- Choose your preferred 2FA method:
- Authenticator app: Generate authentication codes via a downloaded app.
- Text message: Receive authentication codes via SMS to your phone.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

- From the drop-down menu, choose the Ting phone number for your 2FA code.
- To use a different number, select Other and enter the desired number.
- Click Send code.
- Enter the code sent to your phone via text message.
- Click Save settings.
Save your recovery codes
Your recovery codes are essential for accessing your account if you lose access to your 2FA method.
- Print and store your recovery codes in a safe place.
- Each code is single-use—mark them off as you use them.
- When you generate new codes, previous codes will no longer work.
Updating your 2FA preferences
Once you have set up your two-factor authentication, you can update your 2FA settings at any time:
- Log in to your Ting Mobile account.
- Go to Account Settings.
- Under Account Security, click Manage account security.
- Enter your Ting account password.
- Select your preferred 2FA method and follow the setup instructions.
