Simply Bits Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a satellite-delivered service?
Nope! Simply Bits uses fixed wireless technology, not satellite. While we do install a small radio dish on your roof that looks similar to a satellite dish, that’s where the similarities end.
Our signal only travels a few miles to the nearest tower not thousands of miles to a satellite in space. That means you get a faster, lower-latency connection that’s ideal for real-world internet use like streaming, video calls, and gaming.
My landlord or HOA doesn’t allow roof antennas. Can I still get your service?
The FCC protects your right to install an antenna for personal use, even if you're renting or part of an HOA. You can read more about it here: FCC Antenna Rules
Plus, our installation team is always mindful of aesthetics. We'll review the installation plan with you and make sure it works for your space before we start.
Can I use my fax machine with Virtual Fax?
Absolutely. You’ll need an Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA), which Simply Bits provides. With it, you can send and receive faxes through your existing fax machine and also have faxes sent directly to your email via your Simply Bits Virtual Fax account.
What frequency does Simply Bits use?
Our network uses a variety of wireless frequencies to deliver fast, reliable service including 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 5.2 GHz, 5.4 GHz, and 5.7 GHz bands.
Which one we use depends on factors like your location, connection quality, and the plan you choose. This flexibility helps us deliver the best performance for each customer.
Is Simply Bits service safe?
Yes–it’s safe, tested, and fully FCC-compliant. Our equipment meets U.S. and Canadian standards designed to prevent interference with other electronics.
It uses similar frequencies to devices you already trust, like garage door openers and Wi-Fi routers–but ours are mounted outside your home, adding an extra layer of safety.
How long does it take to install Simply Bits Internet?
Most installations happen within a week of your service request. On installation day, setup usually takes about 2 hours.
Someone 18 or older must be present to allow access to your home and speak with our technician. After that, you're good to go–your internet will be up and running immediately.
What if I don’t live in Tucson full-time?
No problem. Our Temporary Turndown Service (TTD) lets you scale down your plan while you’re away. For $29.99/month, you'll get:
- Reduced speeds of 2 Mbps down / 1 Mbps up
- Enough connectivity for smart home devices or remote security access
- The option to use TTD twice per year, for up to 6 months total
When you're back, you can resume your old plan (if still available) or choose from our current options.
