Terminology explained
Internet speed is commonly expressed in megabits per second (Mbps). The higher your Mbps, the faster you can send and receive data on internet.
Download speed is how fast you can receive data, which includes viewing websites and streaming music.
Upload speed is how fast you can send data, like photos or documents.
Ping (also known as latency) is how fast data travels between you and another computer. Low ping is especially important for gaming and video calls. It’s measured in milliseconds (ms).
Jitter measures variation in ping. High jitter can result in “ping spikes”, or a less stable experience.
