Frequently asked questions

  • Will door- to- door sales people respect my sign?

Any legitimate door-to-door sales person must have a Solicitor’s Permit. (You can always ask to see this.) Respecting posted No Soliciting signs is one of the requirements of that permit.

  • Why am I getting so many door-to-door sales people from internet companies?

You’re eligible to get their service. Every internet company, including Ting, stays profitable by connecting as many people as possible to the networks near your home. And if you have a new internet option – 5G home, cable internet or another fiber company - they think they have a better chance with you. Having more options isn’t a bad thing. But we know someone knocking when you’re in the middle of something isn’t always welcome.

  • What should I do if a door-to-door sales person doesn’t respect the sign or is rude?

In our opinion, you should report them to the company they represent. (Be prepared to share your address so they can track down who came to your door.) Every company should take that seriously – not just because they want your business, but also to do the right thing.

We believe in hiring good people and have thoughtful training around not just the product, but also what’s expected. We know that not every door-to-door sales person or every company lives up to this – and often hear it about other companies. It’s part of the reason we’re offering No Soliciting signs.

  • It’s 2026. Why are door-to-door sales people still a thing?

Some people like talking face-to-face with someone who they can ask questions and have a discussion with. It can sometimes be hard to know what your options are at your specific address too. So internet companies are some of the few industries that have door-to-door representatives. That includes Ting.

  • Why does Ting still do door-to-door if you're handing out "no soliciting" signs?

Plenty of our customers liked signing up with a “real person” instead of on their own at Ting.com. We think you should get to choose whether that happens on your porch. (And that’s why people can sign up for Ting over the phone, too.)

  • How do I know someone at my door is actually from Ting?

Every Ting Internet Ambassador carries ID and leaves a door hanger with a way to verify them, even if you're not home. Read more about how our door-to-door program works on [our blog].

  • How long does delivery take?

We'll mail your sign within X days.
