Frequently asked questions

  • If I'm transferring my service, should I take my equipment with me?

If you were renting a router and will keep using it at your new place, then bring it right along! If you purchased a router from Ting, then do the same—it’s yours, after all.

However, we ask that you leave behind the fiber modem for the new tenants to use. By the same token, if the previous tenants of your new house were Ting customers you’ll be able to use the existing modem there. We’ll install a new unit at your next home if it needs one.

  • Does an installation technician need to come to my new home if I'm transferring my service?

If the home has had prior service from Ting, then there’s no need for a technician to come out. However, if you arrive at the home for the first time and it looks like the fiber modem is missing for whatever reason, call us and we’ll see what is needed.

If the home has not had prior service from Ting, an installation technician will indeed  need to come and create the necessary connection. We’ll set up an appointment for the technician to do this for you when you request the service address transfer.

  • Do I have to pay to move my services?

Nope! There are no fees associated with transferring Ting service. We’re happy you want to stick with us at your new home!

  • What if my new address isn’t serviceable with Ting?

If your new address isn’t ready for service, there’s not a lot that can be done until the neighborhood at large is ready and we can come and install fiber for the area. You can always place a pre-order for service, and this way we’ll know to contact you as soon as we’re ready to come to your area.
