Ting Events, Sponsorships and Ad Media

Ting gets tens of thousands of requests for participation, donation, involvement, partnerships and purchases every year via email, phone, physical mail and LinkedIn. Sadly, we’d need a full time person just to respond to them all, even though we know we’re missing out on some great potential relationships.

This is a quick summary of what we’re looking for so you can make sure that reaching out to Ting is a good use of your time.

  • Reach

Our Internet products are only available in select towns: 20 with fiber Internet and the Tucson area with Simply Bits fixed wireless. So, that’s where we invest. Because, unlike almost every other product, reaching more people isn’t necessarily better for Ting.

If you serve one of our areas, and particularly if you focus on a neighborhood or zip code, that’s our number one factor to whether we take part or not.

And if you’re in more than one of our communities but able to target by zip code or neighborhood, that’s even better.

  • Areas of Community Focus

We’re an Internet company that loves both Internet and independent businesses. So, especially with our sponsorships and partnerships, we look for a clear connection to the things great Internet does for people and communities.

    • Education: From pre-K to continuing education, the Internet creates opportunities for people to learn and grow. So we want to do the same. We love to support learners, teachers, educational resources and ways that Internet access can support them.
    • Economic independence: The Internet gives people the opportunity to think up, create and scale their ideas into things that can take on even “The Big Guys.” So Ting loves partnering with programs to support small businesses, job training and entrepreneurism.
    • Getting more from your Internet: Having an Internet connection is critical. But having a Ting Internet connection lets you do lots more. What do real-time kitten cams, Net Neutrality, streaming TV, digital skills for seniors, digital outdoor advertising and digital gift cards have in common? They all make Internet possibilities into Internet-enabled experiences that make things easier and better for everyone involved. And so these are things that Ting has invested in in the past.
  • Long term relationships

We want to be in this for the long haul. One time events or support is good – but long term steady partnership is where Ting really thrives.

We value the ability to work together for a long time, particularly if we’re continuously in front of our potential audiences.

When starting out, however, we may ask for a smaller investment, a shorter commitment or month-to-month contract terms to make sure it’s a great partnership for both of us and we have the internal resources to make the most of our relationship or placement.

  • Budgets

In general, Ting is a medium sized company that’s kept its product prices the same: even with inflation, technological advancement and all the other things that cost money.

And since we focus the majority of investment on delivering great service to customers, our budgets aren’t gigantic in any case.

It makes for tough choices, so even if your project is totally worth it, keep in mind we’re an independent medium sized business. (Trust us. We’d love to be able to. Just not enough to raise customer prices.)

Non-profits, businesses and vendors that have Ting service available, we love relationships that involve an in-kind component. We want you to have our service and sometimes it’s easier to trade that for partnership, exposure or media placement than big $$$ contracts.

  • Independence, community support and ethical practices

Ting prides itself on putting humans first in everything we do – and that includes our support, partnerships and vendor relationships.

We partner with businesses and organizations that make the communities we serve better and operate ethically. We insist that all partners and vendors protect people’s privacy online and operate within all local laws and community norms.

As a policy, we do not support political campaigns or political advocacy groups. We know voting and community involvement are important to the strength of Ting towns, and Internet services and tools can be used unethically in politics.

We always want to make sure everyone in a Ting town feels supported in what they do online, without bias – that’s a key part of our independent spirit as well.

Our only involvement in politics is our focus on privacy, security and education relating to people’s Internet use that can make people feel secure in their ability to engage in political debate and organizing without their Internet company getting in their way.

Where necessary, we do work with “The Big Guys” for advertising placements, but if you’re real people doing good things for real people, you’re our kind of people.
