- What happens after 2025—will I lose my mobile service?
No, you won’t be cut off. While the free service ends on December 31, 2025, you’ll have the option to continue with Ting at our lowest available rate—which we’re currently working to secure with our mobile network partners.
We’ll reach out to all participants in the fall of 2025 with full details about:
- Affordable 2026 pricing options
- What you need to do to stay with Ting
- Or how to switch to another provider if you choose
We want participants to have plenty of time and support to make the decision that’s right for you, and our support team will be happy to help whether you choose to stick with Ting or go back to your current mobile provider.

- How would I switch to a different provider after the free mobile program ends?
Switching to another mobile provider is simple! When you’re ready to move, just contact your new provider and let them know you’d like to port your number out of Ting. They’ll ask for:
- Your Ting account number (this is usually your phone number).
- Your port-out PIN, which you can request by logging in at ting.com, going to Account settings, and selecting “Generate Port Out Info.”
Make sure to keep your Ting service active until the port is complete—once your number is successfully transferred, your Ting line will automatically be closed. There’s no cancellation fee or extra step needed on our end.

- How do I get a redemption code?
Redemption codes are distributed directly by the community-serving organizations Ting is partnering with. If you believe you're eligible and haven't received one, please contact the nonprofit that informed you about the program.
- Can I cancel my plan if I change my mind?
Yes, you can cancel anytime using your Ting account. There are no contracts or penalties. Just log in and follow the usual cancellation process.
- How is eligibility verified?
Eligibility is managed by the selected organization, not Ting. If you have questions about who qualifies, please reach out to the one who introduced you to the program.
- Who is eligible to participate in the program?
Ting has partnered with select community-serving organizations to offer free mobile service to members of their communities.

- Can I add more lines to my account after signing up?
The free $0 plan is limited to five lines per redemption code.

- Will I need a physical SIM card or an eSIM to switch to Ting?
That depends on your phone.
- If your phone supports eSIM, we’ll send you a QR code by email so you can activate your service instantly — no shipping required.
- If your phone doesn’t support eSIM, we’ll mail you a physical SIM card. Shipping is free.

- Can I keep my current number?
Yes! When you activate your free plan, you can choose to keep your existing phone number or get a new one.
To keep your number, you’ll need:
- Your current carrier’s account number
- Your port-out PIN (ask your carrier if you’re not sure how to find it)
- Can I use my current phone?
Most likely, yes! Ting works with a wide variety of devices.
To check, just visit our Bring Your Own Device page and enter your phone’s IMEI number.
If your phone is compatible and unlocked, you’re good to go.
