Fiber Internet is coming to your neighborhood

Spotted our crews outside? Here's what's happening, what to expect, and how to get connected when you're ready.

How your home gets connected

Building a fiber network and connecting a home are two separate things, done in stages.

  • Step 1

The network gets built on your street

Our crews ran fiber cable underground along the roads, passing every home on the block whether or not anyone had signed up yet.

  • Step 2

    Your street becomes serviceable

Once the mainline build is complete, any address we can connect on your street becomes eligible for Ting service. You can check your address at any time to see if you're ready to order, and join our waitlist if you’re not.

  • Step 3

Sign up for Ting service and get your home connected directly to fiber

After you place an order, we run a fiber line from the street to the side of your home. You don't need to be home. We dig, bury, and clean up.

  • Step 4

    Your installation day

A Ting technician comes inside your home to complete the connection. They'll install an ONT. Someone 18 years or older needs to be home for this part. The whole appointment takes about one and a half to two hours.

What's happening outside

We build fiber street by street, burying cable underground so every home has access to a fast, reliable connection built to last.
Here's what you might be seeing:

Crews digging near your home
If you've ordered Ting service, this means we're running fiber from the street to your home. You don't need to be home for this part, and we restore the area when we're done.
Green boxes in the ground
You may notice small green boxes flush with the ground along your street. These are access points that let our team maintain the network underground.
Spray paint on the ground
Local utility companies mark where their underground lines are buried. The paint is temporary and will fade on its own.
A box on the side of a house
That's the NID, or Network Interface Device. It's where the fiber enters the home.

Once fiber is in the ground on your street, it's there for the lifetime.

Selling a home?

Whether you are selling or renting out, make sure future residents know that they are ready to get Ting.

Fast Internet, no surprises

Ting is a pure fiber network, which means fiber runs directly to your home, not just to a cabinet down the street. That means symmetrical speeds, low latency, and a connection that doesn't slow down when your neighbors are all online at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

  • Why do you have to dig in my yard or under the sidewalk?

We bury fiber underground for safety and reliability. During mainline construction we stay in the public right-of-way. Once you order, we dig across your yard to run the connection, and restore everything when we're done.

  • How long does the construction on my street take?

Typically takes between a few days and a couple of weeks. Once it's done, your address will be eligible for service.

  • My neighbors are connected but my address isn't showing as available yet. What's going on?

Enter your address on ting.com and join our waitlist to sign up for updates, we'll notify you by email as soon as your address is ready.

  • Will construction affect my utilities?

We file locations before any digging starts, which means all underground public utility lines are marked in advance. In the rare event that something is disrupted, we take care of it.

  • Can Ting be installed in winter?

Yes. If the ground is frozen, we may run a temporary above-ground fiber line along the side of your home until we're able to bury it permanently when the weather allows.
